5 YOUTUBE CHANNELS FOR GRAPHIC DESIGN TUTORIALS

If you are looking to increase your knowledge as a graphic designer, there are many online resources nowadays and you will be able to easily get free information online.

Here are a few youtube channels I would personally recommend to my students to take a look at to increase their knowledge on graphic design.

1. Fundamentals of Graphic Design: GCFLearn.org

For the Fundamentals of Graphic Design, I would personally encourage you to take a look at the videos from GCFLearn.org : https://www.youtube.com/user/gcflearnfree/playlists?view=50&sort=dd&shelf_id=21
Here is an example of a video from this channel which allows you to understand what is Graphic Design:

These are also a few more of my favourite videos from this channel that talks about typography, layout and composition, images as well as branding and identity.
You will find a better understanding of Graphic Design after watching this video. However, this channel does not go into the skills of creating graphic designs, so you will have to move in to other channels once you understand the fundamentals.

2. Designing with Form & Colours: Satori Graphics

If you are looking for tutorials that allows you to learn the elements of graphic design as well, such as colours, shapes and form, then this channel will be a great start. Take a look at Satori Graphics: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoeJKtPJLoIBqWq4o8TDLpA

Other than this video, below you will see a few of my favourite videos I would suggest you take a look at as well from this channel which shares about

3. Photoshop For Photo Manipulations: PixImperfect

This channel concentrates mostly on Photoshop and photo manipulations, but he does explains this very simply and doesn’t make tutorials more complicated that it needs to be. Every person edits their own photos differently, so there are many methods to get the same effect in Photoshop, it is good to see how some professionals edit their photos and choose your favourite for your own editing style.
Find out how this trainer edits his photos at his channel PixImperfect: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMrvLMUITAImCHMOhX88PYQ

Find other videos on this channel about photo editing as well. Again I love how he explains this very simply and get a very professional result easily with Removing fences, Softening skins, background removal and more in Photoshop

4. Detailed tutorials on Photoshop & Illustrator: TutVid

One of my favourite tutorial channels on youtube, TutVid videos makes complex editing techniques easy to follow and remember. Even as a professional graphic designer, you will still be able learn new things from this channel as he explains different special effects for designs, photos and videos on his channel TutVid: https://www.youtube.com/user/tutvid

Best thing about this channel is of course the way the video explains the effects and tools, but also that there is a wide variety of videos for you to pick and choose which kind of tutorials will be suitable for your work. Check out the Adobe Illustrator tutorials.

5. Business of Design: TheFutur

Other than making the design, there is another skill a designer needs to have and that is to sell your designs, either to your customer, clients, or even boss. This channel teaches a designer how to grow as a freelancer, business owner or even as a designer in a company.
If you are looking to improve your own brand as a designer, I would suggest you check out TheFutur: https://www.youtube.com/user/TheSkoolRocks

It takes skill to grow as a designer, and I would highly recommend anyone who wants to grow in confidence as a designer to take a look at Chris Do, a designer that has taken his business and brand to a whole new level.
